ChargePoint home charging

ChargePoint installer for Southern California homes

We install the ChargePoint Home Flex the way 240V work should be done: licensed C-10 electricians, load calculation before the quote, city permit included, and the app configured to charge in your cheapest hours before we leave the driveway.

The Home Flex earns its popularity honestly: it adjusts its output anywhere from 16 to 50 amps to match the circuit your panel can support, its Wi-Fi scheduling charges the car when electricity is cheap instead of when you happen to plug in, and it works with every EV on the road — Tesla included. We're an independent licensed electrical contractor that installs ChargePoint hardware because it's good, not because anyone pays us to say so.

Why the Home Flex, specifically.

Flexible amperage, 16–50A

The Home Flex dials its output to whatever circuit your panel can safely host — from 16A on a tight older panel up to a full 50A. That flexibility often saves homeowners a panel upgrade they didn't actually need.

Wi-Fi scheduling that dodges the peak

The ChargePoint app schedules charging around your rate plan — which in SCE territory means skipping the expensive 4–9 PM window entirely and charging overnight when electricity is cheapest.

Works with every EV — including Tesla

One charger for a mixed driveway: J1772 works natively with essentially every EV, Teslas charge via the included adapter approach, and NACS-equipped models are covered as the connector transition rolls through. Car-agnostic is the point.

Installed by a C-10 electrical contractor

A Home Flex is hardwired or plugged into a 240V circuit that must be sized, breakered, and permitted correctly. Every install runs under our CSLB License #982201 (C-10 Electrical) — load calculation first, city permit and inspection included.

What it costs, and when it charges.

The hardware runs $400–$700; installation adds $600–$1,800 for the straightforward case — dedicated circuit, breaker, conduit, and your city's permit. Most homes land between $1,000 and $2,500 all-in, and the full line-item breakdown (including panel-upgrade and detached-garage scenarios) is on our EV charger installation cost page.

Then the scheduling does the ongoing work: on SCE time-of-use plans the expensive window is 4–9 PM, so the Home Flex waits and charges overnight; on LADWP and the municipal utilities, we set it to whatever your plan prices lowest. Before we leave, the app knows your utility, your rate plan, and your departure time — you just plug in. The rest of the story is on our EV charger installation page, and the rebate landscape is on California EV charger rebates.

ChargePoint questions, answered.

How much does ChargePoint Home Flex installation cost?
The unit typically runs $400–$700, and installation — labor, materials, and permit — adds $600–$1,800 when your panel has capacity and the run is short. Most homes land at $1,000–$2,500 all-in; a genuinely needed panel upgrade pushes the total to $3,000–$6,000. Our EV charger installation cost page breaks every line down.
Do you install ChargePoint chargers I bought myself?
Yes. If you already own a Home Flex — or ordered one with your car — we install it: dedicated circuit, correctly sized breaker, permit, inspection, and app configuration before we leave. If you haven't bought one yet, we'll tell you honestly whether it's the right unit for your car, panel, and rate plan.
Is the ChargePoint Home Flex good for Tesla owners?
It's a solid choice for households that want one charger for any car — Teslas charge on it via adapter, and everything else plugs straight in. If your driveway is Tesla-only and staying that way, the Tesla Wall Connector is worth comparing; we install both and will give you the straight trade-offs.
Can the Home Flex charge on off-peak rates automatically?
Yes — that's its best feature. Set your utility and rate plan in the ChargePoint app once, and it schedules charging into the cheap hours automatically: overnight off-peak on SCE time-of-use plans, or whichever window your utility prices lowest. On SCE's 4–9 PM peak pricing, that scheduling alone meaningfully cuts your cost per mile.
Does a ChargePoint charger qualify for rebates?
Often, yes — several SoCal utilities run home charger rebate programs, and a networked Level 2 charger like the Home Flex is exactly the kind of hardware they cover. Programs are funded in cycles and amounts change, so we check your address's active rebates as part of every quote. Our California EV charger rebates page has the current landscape.
