Any brand. Any installer — including ones that closed. Owner-reviewed diagnosis.

Freedom Forever — Temecula-based and one of the largest residential solar installers in the country — filed Chapter 11 in Delaware on April 15, 2026. In early August 2026, after its sale effort collapsed, it told the court it could not confirm a reorganization plan and asked to convert the case to Chapter 7 liquidation. Reporting through mid-August describes customers with unfinished installs, unanswered phones, and paperwork nobody is left to sign.

Helios has spent the last two years adopting systems whose installers disappeared — SunPower in 2024, Titan the same year, Sunnova in 2025 — and Freedom Forever systems are now the majority of our service calls. The playbook is the same: verify what is actually wrong, restore what the company took with it, and put the system back under a contractor who answers the phone.

What survives

Your panels, inverter and battery

The equipment on your roof is yours (or your financier's) and keeps producing. Nothing about the bankruptcy switches it off.

Manufacturer warranties

Panel (typically 25 years), inverter and microinverter (10–25 years), and battery (typically 10 years) warranties are contracts with the manufacturer, not the installer. They stand — but most manufacturers want a licensed contractor to diagnose and file.

Your NEM agreement

Your interconnection with SCE, PG&E, SDG&E or LADWP is between you and the utility. A like-for-like repair or a battery-only addition does not change it.

Your loan, lease or PPA

Those contracts sit with the lender or system owner (Mosaic, Sunlight, GoodLeap, Sunrun, etc.), not with Freedom Forever's service desk. Payments continue; so do your rights under the contract.

What went with the company

The workmanship warranty

Freedom Forever's own promise to fix roof penetrations, wiring and installation defects is now an unsecured claim against an estate being liquidated. Plan as if it is gone; keep repair invoices in case a claims process later allows them.

Monitoring support

If your monitoring ran through Freedom Forever's account or a gateway nobody maintains, it may already be dark. The array is usually fine; the data path died with the company.

Unfinished installs and paperwork

Systems left mid-install, un-inspected, or without a completed interconnection application have nobody left to finish them. That is the most urgent case — a paid-for system that isn't producing.

What we do for Freedom Forever systems

Full diagnostic, any brand

Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, SMA, string or micro — we test production, inverter, wiring, rapid-shutdown and the meter, then tell you exactly what failed.

Monitoring brought back online

We re-commission gateways, move monitoring to an account you control, and verify the reported production against your meter.

Manufacturer warranty claims filed for you

A licensed contractor diagnoses, documents and files the claim with the equipment maker; you get the part, we handle the paperwork.

Abandoned installs completed and permitted

We inspect the work done so far, correct anything that would fail inspection, finish the install, and take it through permit final and utility PTO.

Roof-leak and penetration inspection

Workmanship faults show up as leaks at the mounts. We inspect every penetration and re-flash where needed, with our own 10-year workmanship guarantee on the fix.

Battery retrofit and panel removal & reinstall

Add a Powerwall 3 or Enphase 10C to the existing array, or get the panels off and back on for a re-roof — same crew, same paperwork.

County pages: Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego. Riverside County — Freedom Forever's home market — is served from the same crews; start with the form above.

How the first call goes

  1. 1

    Free phone triage

Tell us what the system is doing and who financed it. Half of "dead" systems are a tripped breaker or a dark gateway we can talk through on the phone at no charge.

  2. 2

    Diagnostic visit

A technician tests production against the meter, checks the inverter, wiring, rapid-shutdown and every roof penetration, and photographs the work Freedom Forever left. Flat fee, quoted before we schedule, credited toward the repair.

  3. 3

    One all-in quote

You get the fix priced clearly before any work. If it is a warranty claim, we file it instead of charging you for the part. If the install was never finished, the quote covers finishing it and taking it through permit final and utility PTO.

  4. 4

    The work, then verification

Most single-fault repairs are one visit. We confirm production and monitoring before we leave, and every connection we make carries our 10-year workmanship guarantee.

Not Freedom Forever? Same answer for these installers.

SunPower

Filed Chapter 7 in 2024. Its dealer network and monitoring support ended; the panel brand continues under new ownership, but the company that installed and monitored the systems is gone.

Sunnova

Filed Chapter 11 in June 2025 and wound down its dealer-installed residential business; lease and PPA contracts were sold on, but installer relationships ended.

Titan Solar Power

Closed abruptly in June 2024 with tens of thousands of systems and no successor service company.

Lumio

Filed Chapter 11 in September 2024; assets were sold and most installation operations closed.

Every closed-installer system gets the same service: solar panel repair service, any brand.

Freedom Forever customer questions, answered

Is Freedom Forever out of business?
Effectively, yes. Freedom Forever filed Chapter 11 in Delaware on April 15, 2026 and, in early August 2026, told the court it could not confirm a reorganization plan and asked to convert the case to Chapter 7 liquidation after its sale collapsed. Reporting through mid-August describes customers with unfinished installs and unanswered phones. There is no operating company left to service your system.
Who services a Freedom Forever solar system now?
Any licensed California solar contractor can. Helios Energy Global takes over service on Freedom Forever systems statewide: diagnostics on any brand of equipment, monitoring restored, manufacturer warranty claims filed on your behalf, and unfinished installs completed and permitted. Phone triage is free; a site diagnostic is a flat fee credited toward the repair.
Is my Freedom Forever warranty still valid?
Your equipment warranties — panels, inverters, batteries — are with the manufacturers and remain valid; they usually require a licensed installer to diagnose and file the claim. Freedom Forever's own workmanship warranty is a promise from a company being liquidated; treat it as gone and plan around a contractor you choose.
Freedom Forever never finished my installation. What do I do?
Call us. We inspect the completed work, list what remains, correct anything that would fail inspection, finish the install, and take it through permit final and utility interconnection. If you paid for equipment that was never delivered, we help you document it for the bankruptcy claims process while quoting what is needed to finish.
Do I still have to pay my solar loan or lease?
Yes. Loans and leases are contracts with the lender or system owner, not with Freedom Forever. Stopping payment damages your credit and does not get the system fixed. If the system was never completed, contact the lender in writing — many have processes for installer failure — and keep us in the loop so the technical documentation matches.
My monitoring app has been dark for months. Is the system broken?
Often not. On orphaned systems the most common fault is a dead monitoring gateway or an account nobody maintains; the panels keep producing while the data disappears. We verify production against your utility meter first, restore monitoring to an account you control, and only then repair what actually failed.
Can you add a battery to my Freedom Forever solar?
Yes. Tesla Powerwall 3 and, since August 2026, Enphase's IQ Battery 10C both AC-couple to solar someone else installed. Adding a battery alone does not change your NEM 2.0 agreement. We diagnose the array first so you are not storing power from a system that is under-producing.
